Der Bierkeller is German for The Beer Cellar. In many parts of Germany what many people would call a beer garden is commonly referred to as a “bier keller”.  This comes from the history of breweries often establishing beer gardens on top of their lagering cellars where beer would be fermented and conditioned. This cellar apartment is a nod to the German history of Ste. Genevieve and the tradition of celebrating and sharing a beer or wine with family and friends.
